If your mother* has selective hearing like mine and doesn't respond when you call "Mom!" 15 times in a row, even if she's in the same room, I find that calling her by her first name immediately gets her attention.
Me: "Mom"
Me: "MOM"
Me: "Nancy"
Mom: "What?"
*has not been tested on a father
**Apparently only do this if you're friends with your mom!
