LPT: Do not attempt to contact extended family members if you suspect they are injured or worse in an emergency
Contact one of their immediate family members first. If you are not the first person they would contact in an emergency, text or call the person or someone close to the person you suspect they would contact first. You are likely not the first person attempting to contact them and are likely inundating their cell phone while they try to contact immediate family members. My brother experienced this during Hurricane Irma and he said the constant barrage of calls and texts from people he hadn't heard from in months or years was the biggest inconvenience he dealt with throughout the storm.
