LPT: If a salesperson is offering you additional perks on a contract to sweeten the deal make sure you ask them to write down what they've promised to give you on the contract.

I found myself in this situation not long ago. I went to a mobile phone shop to upgrade my contract. The sales guy told me that if I took out the contract that day he would add an additional 2gb to my allowance. I asked him to write this down on the physical contract before I would sign it. Fast forward a few days later the additional 2gb had not been added to my account. I went back to the store and was told that the deal had expired a week before I had signed. I explained what the salesperson had said and told them he had wrote it on the contract. After fishing for it out back in their office they honoured the deal and added the data allowance there and then.
