LPT: Once you are older than 25, reassess what "morals/truths" you learned growing up. Most parents just repeat cycles of abuse/ignorance; it takes a critical mindset to break/change these cycles.
Edit: I only say 25 because the brain isn't done developing until then...your brain chemistry may change and your morals might as well
