LPT: When applying for a job, especially food service or retail, always call after about a week to check on your application.

I had to learn this the hard way. I’ve been applying at dozens of retail/food service places. Calling is about the only way to let them know You sent in a resume.

95% of the places I’ve called and pointed out my application to have asked me to come in that day to talk to someone. None of the places I didn’t call ever showed interest. They just want someone they know will show up to work the next day and calling them shows you will.

When you get into jobs outside of that market, it’ll show that you’re enthusiastic about being part of their company and will put you in a good light.
