Whenever you present a supervisor with a problem, always have at least one possible solution with you. Not only will it show initiative it will also give your supervisor a better understanding of the problem.
Your supervisor might not use the solution but it will help develop a better understanding of your supervisors thought process and your supervisor will eventually allow you to handle more issues in the future.
