Need to separate eggs but don't want to dirty a sieve? Turn the eggshell into a sieve.

CaptionCrack the egg, making sure that the 'top' (narrow end) bit of broken shell is smaller than the 'bottom' (big round end). Leave the yolk in the 'bottom' shell. Invert the 'top' shell and hold it up to the yolk in the bottom shell. You don't have to be too gentle, but keep in mind that it is an egg. Tip the egg upside down into the bowl that you're putting the whites into. The whites should pour easily into the bowl, and the yolk should remain in the 'bottom' shell, being held in by the 'top' shell.(This takes longer to explain than to do, I'm not yolking)
