original postso i believe it was last wednesday when i asked you fine people of r/lifehacks what to do about bed bugs and i got a mix of solutions ranging from throw out everything you own, get bed bug spray and a mattress cover and call an exterminator. I ended up spraying everything with rubbing alcohol 71%, washing all my laundry in hot water and high heat, vacuuming 3x over, and buying a mattress cover from walmart ($34 for a queen, a solid steal). I thought that all of this would've solved the problem, but to a shock it didn't. woke up with new bites on my neck and stomach. Called an exterminator, and had him check out the place and my 40+ bug bites and to my surprise, i had fleas!! fleas living in my carpet (which explains all the bites on my feet). he fumigated my room, and i had my first full night of rest in about a 1.5 of being a midnight snack for these fuckers. moral of the story: don't bother wasting your money on products that may or may not be effective, and just call an exterminator.
