There are horror stories all over the internet of people waking up only to find they can't move or call out; as someone who has experienced it several times, I've found the best way to overcome it is to wiggle your big toes until you can do the same with your feet. Once those are woken up you should be lucid enough to sit up completely and reposition yourself so you don't have it happen again.
This happened to me just last night and I did exactly these steps.
