Whenever possible, you should first flush the eye with water. If you're not near water but have a pack of matches, tear one off. Using the back of the match, carefully and gently touch the debris. It'll jump onto the match like a magnet. Ideally you would hold your eye open and have someone you really trust poke your eye with the match. If you're alone, or don't trust your company, you can use a mirror. Worst case, you're alone with no mirror. You can poke around in there blindly. It might take a while, but you'll probably be able to get it eventually.
