LPT: Don't assume a behavior is malicious if it can be explained by obliviousness.

I'm just now realizing that most people don't think about each other very much. Even in my late 30s, I've met very few people who were "out to get me." It's much more common that people simply don't realize what they're doing: they forgot an issue I had, didn't consider how something would affect me, or the thought of me simply didn't even occur to them.

I realized life is much easier when you at least start off by assuming people aren't malicious. People react much better when you go at things from that direction too: "Can you please consider X?" is usually met much more positively than "Why are you doing X to me?"
