As a way to adjust your self talk, build the habit of finishing every sentence you start “I’m just not that good at...” or “I don’t ...” with the word, “...yet.” For example, “I’m just not that good at standing up for myself with my boss.” Would become, “I’m just not that good at standing up for myself with my boss yet.” By doing this you'll change the structure of the story you tell yourself to allow yourself the ability to improve at that quality or skill over time.
