LPT Invest in your career while you are employed and keep your information updated

I've recently been laid off and one thing I have learned is the importance of preparing yourself for your next job, WHILE you're still employed. Whether it's creating a website and paying for the hosting, updating your resume/LinkedIn, purchasing or replacing office/formal clothing, taking training courses or certifications that usually cost a lot of $$$. It is always good idea to invest and better yourself. What I have noticed is that a lot of people get content once they have a job. A lot of them don't push themselves for improvement, which they should be to make them a more attractive candidate. It's difficult once your unemployed to do some of these things because applying for jobs is a whole different chore and on top of that it may not fiscally be the best thing to do at the time. (Don't get me wrong, I saved but I don't like spending when I'm unemployed, because you never know what fiscal responsibilities may pop up).
