LPT: Do not unsubscribe from emails, mark them as spam.

If you’re getting emails with unsubscribe links that you didn’t subscribe to, stop unsubscribing now!

I work a lot with email reputation, marketing email, and advertising in general. Your reputation is everything, it’s what guarantees that your email gets delivered to the googles and yahoos of the world.

When you get these emails it’s because they bought your email address, when you unsubscribe, they may stop sending you mail but you’ve just validated that email address and they just in turn sell it to someone else.

I’m here to tell you that marking an email as spam in google for example, is the most damaging thing you can do to an advertiser.
