LPT: Don't give a pet as a Christmas present

Every year, thousands of pets are gifted on Christmas day, and every year, thousands of pets are abandoned in the months following Christmas. A pet should be seen as a long term commitment, not as a toy.

If you want to, you can take your kid or your SO or whomever and you can adopt a pet any other time of the year, but it should never be a spontaneous decision.
