Unfortunately in society today, guys can be very wary of women in bars because they have dealt with occasions where they buy a girl a drink hoping for conversation and she just drinks it and leaves. When you as a girl reverse the "role", and buy a guy a drink, it immediately gives you an edge with a guy. Instead of them being concerned you may just be using them for a free drink, they are more carefree when talking to you (and quite frankly, usually impressed) and you can start up a normal conversation. "Dating games" can be complicated and meeting people can be difficult, but doing something different to break the ice can help.
