LPT: If you meet someone who has a characteristic that is uncommon (e.g. Celiac disease, left-handedness, being adopted), don't automatically start mentioning people you know who share it (oh, my aunt's friend is left handed).

Chances are, the person with the uncommon (or not-majority) characteristic is tired of hearing that.
