CaptionWhen fans in PC cases get old and worn, they start to sag, causing the blades to hit against the metal chassis underneath it, making a loud clicking/grinding noise. The fan will continue to spin at full power with no change in performance, but the noise will be quite distressing. Normally, the only way to fix this is to unscrew the fan, remove it and buy a replacement. However, you can slightly lift the fan up and away from the chassis by putting metal washers in between the fan and the screws. This will prolong the life of the fan by potentially several months.
