My dad has worked for UPS for thirty years. The holidays have always been a busier time for UPS, however in recent years in light of online shopping UPS/FedEx/USPS are overwhelmed with packages. My dad said that even with an extra 30 or so delivery personnel, him and his coworkers get off around 11 PM, after a 16 hour shift.
Late packages are frustrating, but just know that most delivery workers like my dad work very hard to try to deliver all of his quotas. :)
