If you include suicide gun deaths (making up ~2/3 of all gun deaths), the rate is about the same, edging out car deaths by a slim margin.
NOTE: 2017 data not included. This data is, of course, not fully available yet for either side. A post that includes 2017 data should absolutely be made once it is.
