I'm in Alabama and we just had our once-a-year snow and I see lots of cars driving on the interstate with 3-5 inches of snow sitting on top of their cars. This snow can and will eventually blow off becoming a hazard for those behind you. While the flying snow may not be damaging to the car behind you (unless it has compacted to a sheet of ice underneath), it could cause a reactive jerk of the steering wheel to avoid it, and if a motorcyclist is behind you it could be deadly.
