LPT: Don’t store important documents, pictures, or computers close to the floor or in your basement. Put them in a spot that you can quickly grab them in an emergency.

Even if you don’t look at these documents or pictures ever, it’s much safer to store these above ground where they can’t get damaged by water or where you can grab them in case of a fire. I constantly hear about how people don’t have any pictures from their childhood and I’ve suffered from it myself. I have maybe 3 pictures of myself below the age of twelve. My neighbor also lost everything in a house fire at night, and couldn’t save anything because the fire blocked his basement. He had to go through hell to get a lot of his papers back.
