LPT: If you have a protective case on your cell phone, put some sort of alternative contact info on the inside. So that if you lose your phone, the finder can contact you.

I found a cellphone near my townhouse yesterday and thought the owner was out of luck until I opened up the case and found a small Polaroid of the owner. I posted it online seeing if anybody recognized him and in less than an hour one of his friends reached out.

So, slip a piece of paper in between your phone and case that says: "if found email <email address>". That way if someone wants to try and give it back they can.
