LPT: If you receive a call from your financial institution, tell them you're going to call them back. Hang up and call them back on a number you know is theirs.

I've received several very convincing scam calls today from someone claiming to be from my bank with important account info. They sound legit, they have the greeting tone and announcement of my bank, and then the automated system tells me I'm being connected to a rep. The first call I was convinced that it was my bank, guy started asking me questions about my account. An alarm went off in my head, "hey make sure it's really your bank before answering, just in case". I asked which account they were referring to and then it all started to fall apart. Guy said he was in a different department and couldn't see that info. At this point I was skeptical, so I told the guy I would call back and hung up. I called my bank and they confirmed that it wasn't them!

Always tell the caller you're going to call them back, then call back on the public number!
