LPT: Need a letter of recommendation? Don’t be afraid to ask! Chances are the person you ask will be flattered and more than happy to oblige.

When I was in high school and college I dreaded asking teachers, coaches (etc) for letters of recommendation. Fast forward 10 years, I am a teacher and letter writer. Any time a student asks for a reference letter, I feel honored that they felt like I was a person they could reach out to. My only advice to avoid stress on both sides is to give plenty of notice.
