LPT: Wait until after the superbowl to buy a TV and get a great deal on open box merchandise.

I was at (brick and mortar retailer) admiring a TV I've been lusting after and discussing when the price may drop with a sales rep. I said that I'd heard superbowl was the best time of year for deals on tv's and he told me to come back the week after. Apparently it's extremely common for people to buy large tv's then return them next day/week and so there is a lot of open box merchandise they have to unload and steep discounts.
