LPT: When replacing broken appliances, before having the old one hauled off or putting it out to the curb, scavenge it for any easily-obtained and sold parts. You can easily make $50-$150 on eBay
Check eBay for your make/model appliance to see what parts are in demand. Many parts are easy to remove. Parts I've sold: Electric Dryer: Heating element: $30 Timer: $65
Dishwasher: Control board (motherboard); $70
Oven/stove/Range; Burner Caps: $40/set Knobs: $ $30/set Control board: $70
I've even grabbed some of these items from appliances I've seen others throw out.
Obviously, don't sell the broken parts!
