LPT: When traveling abroad, bring something from your own country to share with new friends/people you meet

I was at a language immersion program abroad a while back and one of the other attendees brought candies with her from her home country. She was sharing them with everyone and it was a great way to meet new people and start up a conversation.

I suppose it works better for longer stays but it can definitely work for short trips, too!
