LPT: When you're unsure of which way to turn a bolt - Point the thumb of your right hand in the direction you want it to go (either in or out of the hole), and curl your other four fingers. The fingers will curl in the direction the bolt needs to turn for your desired result.

An alternative to the all-to-familiar "righty tighty, lefty loosie".

The thumb trick works when working on a car or anything else that has you facing a bolt at an awkward angle. But remember, only use you right hand!
