I think there's a feature built into OSX PCs that lets you do the same thing, but I haven't heard of such a feature on Windows.
The extension is called Imagus and basically you can hover over almost any link of a static image/video/gif and get it shown/played to you. You can also rotate, zoom and other useful things with some keyboard shortcuts.
It's a very useful extension for Reddit.
