Supermarket sales aren't random nearly all follow a cycle. Pay attention to the cycle so you can predict it and buy on sale. You'll save about 40%.
For example: I like OJ, but only 1 of the 3 major brands, and the generic sucks. My local supermarket rotates sales between each major brand at their own -- so for 1 week each month, my brand is on sale, so I buy enough to last the month.
Fresh produce fits the same schedule each year when in season. Grilled items and buns are ALWAYS on sale labor day and memorial day. There are many more patterns. Just learn them.
Also, nearly every supermarket put their 'sale' flyers online a day before the sale, making this all much easier.
