LPT: Do's and Don'ts when talking to a high schooler: Don't tell them that they're determining their future. Do talk to them about how you got into your line of work. Don't ask what college they're going to. Do ask what college they might be interested in, or what they might want to do for a living.

It's extremely stressful already with parents and all adults telling us how important this moment is, we don't need more of that. Also, don't say where you think they should go. Maybe they don't have the GPA, and that can be awkward.
