LPT: If you are trying to quit or cut back on something, set a secondary goal that depends on you doing so. This takes the focus off of the burden of cutting something bad out of your life and replaces it with the satisfaction of adding something good.
For example: I wanted to cut back on my late night drinking. Rather than actively spend my night counting cans, I decided to start running in the mornings. Pretty soon I wanted to skip the late night beers (and late nights in general) in order to improve my runs - something that never happened whenever I just decided to drink less before
