LPT: When asking someone to join you for something, don't just say e.g. "what are you doing on Saturday night?" - explain the event beforehand

If you just ask "what are you doing on Saturday night?" and they say "nothing", then you put them in the potentially awkward position of having the say "OK I am not busy... but I still don't want to do what you are proposing"
