LPT: If you suck at something at work and avoid putting it off for someone else to do, look at it as a learning curve and try to master it. You will find that people will often come to you for the answers.

For the past 4 years I have done software support and there have always certain aspects that people hate doing (due to bugs or that it's 3rd party etc). For example, there was a third party software that everyone hated, I took it into my own hands and mastered this product. Because of this, it got me a promotion and pay rise because of my tenacity to learn new products and become an owner. This method applies with subjects as well, if you're rubbish at fractions, try and try again until you can master them. The harder you push, the greater the rewards!
