LPT: If you're toasting a bagel and your cream cheese is too cold to spread easily, place the foiled cream cheese packet in the toaster oven with the bagel, or directly on top of the standard upright toaster.
The foil packaging will protect the cream cheese from melting and heat the cream cheese to the perfect spreading temperature. By the time the bagel is done toasting, the cheese should be just soft enough to easily spread on your bagel.
