LPT Request- How does someone not get bullied or treated badly in high school?

A friend of mine's son is going to be in high school soon. He is very smart, however he is very shy. He also doesn't like to dress (doesn't wear Hollister, Nike, etc.) or act like the typical teen (doesn't have an iPhone, doesn't use words like lit or fam, very respectful) does nowadays. He is a very unique child. However high school can be brutal and I don't want him to get bullied or treated badly because of his individuality. He is a wonderful kid and I don't want him to get hurt. If you have any tips, please comment them. All help is appreciated and thank you.
