I've gotten into some awkward situations with messages popping up on my phone while I was scrolling through pictures with either family or coworkers. Whether it's a groupme notification and your friend has an obscene nickname, or it's a tinder match, sometimes you just don't want people to read what's going on in your social life. So just flick it into airplane mode and then you can safely take your time showing them pictures or letting them scroll.
