LPT: When putting lights on your Christmas tree, run the first string up and down the trunk. It will back light the ornaments and give depth to the tree.
I've done this the last few years and I really like the effect. I feed the first string along the trunk from the bottom to the top, put a loop around the top branch and run the string down the other side of the trunk, then continue with normal lights on the outer branches.
