I've been watching videos about logic board repairs and it's kind of disgusting how much Apple will charge to replace a motherboard that only needs a new 5-cent capacitor, fuse, or another cheap component. The truth is that Apple corporate doesn't trust that the employees will be able to perform component-level repairs, even though they are often very inexpensive fixes. Granted, if you spilled water on your laptop and ruined thousands of components, you're probably out of luck. But it's often worth considering to avoid complete replacements.
