LPT: If you want to get in shape for the new year don't exercise, exercise sucks. Instead find an actual activity or sport you enjoy and do that.
I have a weight set, a bike, a chin up bar, a stationary bike and a few other odd bits of equipment I never used.
Then a friend invited me to go rock climbing and I finally started to get off my ass. Now I'm eating more healthy and being more active outside of the climbing gym because I want to climb better because I love to climb.
If you find motivation first I think you are much more likely to keep going. I've lost 60 lbs this year and plan on continuing to lose more this upcoming year.
