LPT: if you’re going on a cruise and don’t have anything planned for a port ask the employees who work in the shops/casino/art gallery what they recommend. They have usually been there before and are not trying to sell you a shore excursion.

Retail departments on cruise ships are closed in port due to customs regulations so the employees can usually get off the ship. Also, working on a cruise ship doesn’t pay that well so you can almost guarantee whatever they suggest will be less expensive than a shore excursion. Obviously, if you’re looking for a good shore excursion ask the employees at the shore excursion desk.
