LPT When getting gifts for someone with a very specific hobby, don't get them gifts relating to that hobby without consulting them first.

EDIT: The title wasnt clear enough. For example: Im a mountain biker and year after year I keep getting $5 fingerless gloves that serve no purpose whatsoever, water bottles, rucksacks and shitty bike accessories like lights or bells.

I appreciate the thought, but it keeps getting annoying over time. If you really want to surprise them, give them something that is constantly needed, for example I run through a spray can of chain lube in about 3 weeks, so I would very much appreciate getting a few cans of the stuff.
