YSK: You can memorize anything much faster using "Spaced Repetition" software.

Spaced repetition simply put, is spacing out your study sessions at optimal intervals to retain information much more efficiently. Durability of memory fades over time but if you can review that information before it fades, you will likely remember that information about twice as long as before. And then if you study it before it fades again, you remember about twice as long as that last interval and so on.

In depth article here. More on the forgetting curve here

I've made an app to automate this process and used these methods to learn 2000 new Korean words in the past 9 months. It predicts when you are likely to forget a card and shows it to you just before that happens. Each time you answer correctly, the spacing between the next review increases. If you forget a card, it's suggested more frequently. With software automation this process become incredibly efficient. I'm even using it with my 3 year old son to begin to learn how to read. We use it together for about 5-10 minutes a day and he can read about 30 words and knows the entire alphabet.
