LPT: Fill your tub up with water in case pipes in your area burst from the cold. This can be used to flush the toilets , water for pets, etc for a short time.

In my area we are expecting temperatures near -30 to -40 with windchill. I have already seen the water crews go out tonight to fix a burst pipe. The water will only last so long but typically in long term outages the city ( mine at least ) will provide bottled water.
