YSK - In the US, you can dial 911 from both disconnected cell phones & pay phones (even if you do not have $ on you!).
1) As long as the cell phone is charged and has a signal, you can still dial 911 - even if you do not subscribe to cell service through a carrier.
2) You can dial 911 from any payphone (Yes! They still exist! 😂), even if you do not have any change on you.
You'd be surprised how many folks are not aware of the above info! It could save your life or the life of others someday! (A conversation with my sweet, elderly grandfather - who has been paying for unnecessary/expensive cell service for DECADES, simply so he can call 911 in the event of an emergency someday - prompted this post. Even if it helps just one person, it's worth posting!)
