YSK That in the US, no "Unlimited Data" plan is actually unlimited for phones. They all have vauge rules allowing throttling when you use up to 20-23gb within your billing cycle. Truly "Unlimited" data plans do not exist.

Many ISPs or carriers offer unlimited data for various prices, and can undercut one another by a few bucks here and there, but they all still limit you, despite the misleading name of the data plan.

To curb the pedantic people, technically the amount of data you use is not limited. However, when you do go over or around 20gb of data used in your billing period, your connection is cut down to around 125 kb/s which is practically unusable for anything. This means, functionally speaking, the usable quality of data is very much finite and limited.

AT&T also has an odd caveat, where you can get something with supposedly less or no throttling, however you won't be able to use the hotspot function of your phone. That being said, there are many anecdotes of users with that particular unlimited plan having throttling issues when they use a large amount of data without their hotspot being enabled. In the end they don't like shilling out for all the data you wish to use either.

Ultimately there is no "unlimited data without throttling" plan and its really infuriating. Throttling defeats the purpose of it being unlimited at all.
