We have two cats and just moved into a new, smaller apartment. Due to the layout and flooring of the place, one of the litter boxes would have to sit on carpet. Bad news.
BUT a large boot tray (the kind you buy to corral your gross muddy boots) is the perfect size to put a litter box and mat. Strong, easy to clean, and another barrier between cat mess and your carpet. And it has EDGES so you don't get litter all over the damn carpet.
